[NO]Åpnings-strofen symboliserer en soloppgang, og gir løfte om en ny dag.
Den bærende ide i musikken er gitt i Johannes Åpenbaring, kap. 22 vers 5:
Og ingen natt skal være der.
Det handler om å forvandle mørke til lys, og stemningene i musikken veksler fra kaos og kamp mellom mørke og lys, til lysets seier og fred.
Et rolig tema som starter med klarinettsolo henspeiler på avsnittet For Gud Herren skal lyse over dem.
Men så blir soloppgangstemaet forsøkt nedkjempet av mørket, uttrykt ved aggressive sidetemaer.
Men lyset tar over, og det hele munner ut i den triumferende avslutningen: For Gud Herren skal lyse over dem og de skal herske i all evighet.
