The 75 year old Texas music publisher, Southern Music Company of San Antonio, Texas, was acquired by Lauren Keiser, veteran music publisher on June 22, 2012. Southern Music is a leading educational and concert music publisher having published thousands of titles and establishing a long list of standard school and concert repertoire for band,chamber groups, individual instruments, orchestra, choral and vocal forces.


Arthur Gurwitz, owner and CEO of Southern said, “We are happy and fortunate to be purchased by Lauren Keiser, a foremost publisher in the United States and the world. We know that Southern Music’s future is assured in Lauren’s capable hands.“

The Southern Music publications will be available from Hal Leonard, who exclusively distributes the Lauren Keiser Music Publishing titles worldwide. Southern Music will maintain an office in San Antonio, Texas with Bob Dingley, Southern Music’s General Manager, running the operation on a day-to-day basis.
