Founded in 1993, Claude T. Smith Publications was formed to ensure and preserve the legacy of composer Claude T. Smith (1932-1987) and to ensure that his music be made available to musicians worldwide. Smith was a prolific, highly respected, and popular composer of music for band, orchestra, and solo instruments. His commissions included works for the U. S. Air Force Band, the U. S. Marine Band, and many other prominent ensembles. He was especially beloved in the education community, and his many years of teaching in public schools honed his writing skills considerably. Many of his works are frequently performed today.Based in the Kansas City area and founded by Claudes widow Maureen, and daughter Pam Smith Kelly, Claude T. Smith Publications has re-released over fifty Smith works that had been out of print, as well as several previously unpublished works.
