Walter Mays composer
Walter Mays is Professor of Musicology and Composition at Wichita State University. He received his D.M.A. from the University of Cincinnati. Various Awards include Naumburg Recording Award; Composers Award from the Martha Baird Rockefeller Fund for Music; Tanglewood Commission from the Fromm Foundation; Serge Koussevitsky Grant from the Library of Congress. Oratorio, Voices From The Fiery Wind was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, 1981; War Games for Percussion, subject of two PBS documentaries. Orchestral performances have occurred in Omaha, Indianapolis, France, Norway, and Tasmania.

Six Invocations to the Svara Mandala Walter Mays
