Silvano Scaltritti composer / arranger
Silvano Scaltritti, pianist, composer, arranger, orchestra and concert band conductor.
He studies piano with Maestro Piero Rattalino, composition with Maestros Carlo Mariani and Aurelio Maggioni and band instrumentation with Maestro Ugo Turriani at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan.
At the age of seventeen he starts his career as solo pianist and accompanist for singers and instrumentalists, performing in Italy and abroad. At the age of twenty he decides to devote himself definitively to composition and to instrumental group direction.
He composes pieces for symphony orchestra and wind band.
As a conductor he performs at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, in many towns in Italy, in Germany and in New York, on the occasion of Columbus Day.
He conducts various operas like Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini, La serva padrona by G.B.Pergolesi, Lelisir damore by G. Donizetti and he organizes monographic events about the great authors of classical music.
His composition skills are well known at national and international level and he has collaborated actively for many years with the publisher Wicky Music, Milan.
In 2004 he is appointed Cavaliere della Pace (Knight of Peace) in Assisi in the presence of outstanding political and religious authorities following the performance of the premiere of Cantico di Frate Sole for narrator, soprano, tenor, baritone, bass, organ and wind band.
In 2016 his Ave Maria is performed worldwide in St. Peters square, in Rome in the presence of Pope Francis.
In March 2016 his song Un nuovo mondo (A new world) performed by the Japanese tenor Masahiro Shimba and by the Rossini orchestra from Pesaro meets with broad consensus among the public and the critics during the tour in the greatest Japanese theatres.
On 7th May 2017 the premiere of his composition Toto Corde for string orchestra is performed at the Southeast Missouri State University 1873 in Cape Girardeau (USA).
His name is listed in the Dictionary of the Italian Music Biographies of the composers and catalogue of the works from 1800 to the present.
He still works as a teacher and a performer. He is often called to run masterclasses in composition and instrumentation methods.
