Pat Metheny (* 12. August 1954 in Lees Summit, Missouri; als Patrick Bruce Metheny) ist ein US-amerikanischer Jazzgitarrist. Als Gastmusiker, Solokünstler und Leiter diverser eigener Formationen etablierte er sich seit Mitte der 1970er Jahre als einer der einflussreichsten und erfolgreichsten Jazzmusiker der Welt. Stilbildend wurde neben seinem eigenen Spiel auf verschiedenen akustischen und elektrischen Saiteninstrumenten auch seine Arbeit mit der Pat Metheny Group, mit der ihm ein eigenständiger Ensembleklang gelang.
