Chobanian Loris O. geb. in Mosuk, Irak, 17. April 1933. Er ließ sich 1960 in den USA nieder, um an der Louisiana State University bei Helen Gunderson und Kenneth Klaus und an der Michigan State University bei H. Owen Reed zu studieren. Der erfolgreiche Komponist wurde schließlich als Professor für Komposition und Gitarre an das Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory und an das Oberlin Conservatory berufen.
