Joost van Wichen arranger

Joost van Wichen born on 28 August 1988 in Alphen (gld) started his musical career at an early age. At eight years old, he learned to play his first notes on trumpet with Fanfare St. Lambertus from Herman van Teffelen.

In secondary school, he already dreamed of a career in music and so it happened that, after graduating, he applied for admission to the classical trumpet course at the conservatory in Tilburg. He was accepted for classical trumpet in 2009 and was taught by Radko Berka & Raymond Vievermans. After a year, this turned out not to be what Joost had in mind after all, so he switched to the HaFa conducting course with Hardy Mertens. In spring 2014, he successfully completed this study. With his classical background and broad musical interests, Joost also wanted to know more about other musical styles, such as pop, jazz, Latin, etc. Therefore, he followed support course Trumpet Improvised Music with Toon de Gouw and played with the Fontys Big Band during his studies. Joost has taken various master classes & lessons with, among others: Jos van de Braak, Chris Derikx, Frans van Dun, Martijn de Laat, Chuck Findley

currently, Joost is taking private lessons with Chris Derikx to further deepen himself and possibly prepare for a Master study.
