Seit 1969 unterrichte er an der Auburn University in Alabama, wo er 1985 zum Associate-Dirigenten des Blasorchester sowie der Marching Band bestellt wurde. 1991 erfolgte seine Ernennung zum Professor in der Musikabteilung und zum Dirigenten der Blasorchester der Universität.
