Clarke Herbert Lincoln geb. in Woburn, Mass., 12. September 1867, †Long Beach, Kalifornien, 30. Januar 1945. Einer hochmusikalischen Familie entwachsen, jedoch ohne gezielte Ausbildung, entwickelte Clarke sich zum Kornett-Solisten der Blasorchester von Patrick Gilmore, Frederick Innes, Victor Herbert und vor allem Sousas. Noch heute gilt er in Fachkreisen als der bedeutendste Virtuose auf dem Kornett. Aber auch als Dirigent und Komponist trat er in Erscheinung, entwickelte mit Frank Holton zusammen neue Kornett-Modelle und verfasste Lehrwerke. Von 1918 bis 1923 dirigierte er die Anglo Canadian Leather Company Band in Huntsvill, Ontario, anschließend bis 1943 die Long Beach Municipal Band.
