Francisco Jose Martinez Gallego composer

Francisco José Martínez Gallego (b. 1969, San Antonio de Requena, Spain) is a Spanish composer, music educator, conductor and clarinetist. He began his music studies in the music school of the La Armonica Society in San Antonio, and later studied at conservatories in Murcia, Torrente, and Valencia, from which he earned a diploma in clarinet in 1993. Martinez Gallego studied composition with Ferrer Ferran, Teodoro Aparicio, and Miguel Ángel Matéu.

His career has focused on three areas: teaching, directing bands, and composing. His chief conducting positions have been with the band El Arte in Sinarcas, Valencia, the youth and symphonic bands of la Armonica Society, and the Armonica Brass, a brass ensemble. He is professor of clarinet at La Armonica in San Antonio, Valencia, the musical union in Aldaya, and the municipal music school in Landete, Cuenca. He is professor harmony, aalysis and fundamentals of composition at the Conservatory 'Mestra Molins' Quart de Poblet in Valencia.

In 2000, Martínez Gallego won 1st prize in the first National Music Festival Competition in Altea with his Marcha Mora Ziryab. In 2002, he also won first prize in the Composition Competition of the music festival in Calpe with his marcha mora Benifat, and in 2005, he also was first prize winner in the Competition for Symphonic Band Music in Finestrat with his suite for band, Monuments. Among his works are 15 pasodobles, marchas moras, marchas de procession, chamber music, and symphonic music. In 2009 in the Pasodobles Sant Joan de Moro composition competition, Gallego won first place with his pasodoble Angel 'El Calo.'

He is a member of the SGAE (General Society of Authors and Editors), COSICOVA (Association of Valencian Symphonic Composers) and ACMMIC (Association of Composers of Music of Moors and Christians), and is currently a professor of harmony, analysis and fundamentals of composition at the Professional Music Center ‘Mestre Molins’ in Quart de Poblet (Valencia, Spain).
