Emo Marani composer

Clarinetist (Bologna, November 10, 1922 - Turin, December 14, 2008). After studying with Bianco Bianchini and Paolo Budini, he graduated in 1942 with Raimondo Maramotti at the Conservatory of Music in Bologna. From 1946 to 1952, he was active in Yugoslavia as principal clarinetist of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Belgrade Radio Orchestra, and as a professor at the Belgrade Music Institute. Returning to Italy, from 1953 to 1983 he played as principal clarinet in the R.A.I. orchestra in Turin, with which he performed several times as a soloist under the direction of Paul Hindemith, Ernest Bour, Hubert Soudant, and Peter Maag. From 1958 to 1978, he was professor of clarinet at the G. Verdi Conservatory of Music in Turin. He always combined his musical career with that of a painter, exhibiting his works in various art exhibitions. Among others, in 1962, he participated in the exhibition “Incisione Italiana Contemporanea” (Contemporary Italian Engraving) in Mexico City with illustrious artists such as Gentilini and Guttuso.
