*Norwich, Connecticut, 15. Juni 1936. Er studierte Trompete in Boston und in Chicago sowie von 1959 bis 1964 Musikwissenschaft bei Leo Schrade in Basel. Sein Interesse galt der historischen Trompete und ihrem Repertoire, 1967 gründete er das Edward Tarr Brass Ensemble, um sowohl die Musik der Renaissance und des Barock wie zeitgenössische Musik stilgerecht zu interpretieren. 1985 übernahm er die Leitung des Trompetenmuseums in Bad Säckingen, Baden-Württemberg.
