Dominique Morel was born on 7 May 1974. At the age of 6, he took his first trumpet lessons with his father. In 1983, he entered Philippe Baud's class at the Conservatoire de Fribourg. The same year, he joined the brass band "La Lyre" of Courtion.
In 1990, he changed class and joined Jean-François Michel's class, still at the Conservatoire de Fribourg, in order to obtain the study certificate (1993), the teaching diploma (1996) and the virtuosity diploma (1998). Since 1995 he has been teaching at the Conservatoire de Fribourg. Teaching and training young people have thus become his main activities.
Always attracted by brass bands, he joined the Brass Band Fribourg in 1989. Two years later, he was promoted to the position of soprano cornet, a position he still holds today. With this ensemble, he won the Swiss championship title in 2002 and 2005 and the European vice-champion title in 2006.
In 1999 he co-founded the "Opus One Brass Quartet". In 2000, he recorded his first solo album entitled "Capriccio". The same year he took over the direction of the "Young Harmonic Band", then in 2001 the direction of the "Lyre" of Courtion.
In 2004, he was invited by Bob Childs to participate with the prestigious Welsh Brass Band "Buy as you view band" in the following competitions: the Welsh National Championship (Swansea), the European Competition (Glasgow), the British National Competition (London) and in 2005, the All England Masters (Cambridge).
