Anabel was born Oct. 24, 1915, in Bartlesville, Okla., a daughter of the late Rev. Charles and Bess Mil­lison Hulme. A well-known and sought after flutist in the New York music scene, Anabel had been awarded a scholarship to the University of Southern California where she studied prior to trans­ferring to Juilliard, where she met her husband. She had been a mem­ber of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and the Musicians Union 802. She had studied with Moyse and later taught the flute herself.
