Alex Schillings composer / arranger

Alex Schillings, 1957 in Gulpen (Niederlande) geboren, spielt seit seinem achten Lebensjahr im örtlichen Blasorchester und besuchte dann die Musikschule in Maastricht. Mit fünfzehn begann er am Konservatorium in Maastricht, Trompete, Allgemeine Musiklehre und Fanfare- und Blasorchesterdirektion zu studieren. 1983 erhielt er sein Diplom für Fanfare- und Blasorchesterdirektion bei Rien Rats. Er setzte seine Direktionsstudien bei Lucas Vis und Anton Kerstjens fort. Mit diversen Orchestern erspielte er sich bei Wettbewerben zahlreiche bedeutende Preise. 1985 gewann Schillings den Silbernen Dirigierstab beim Internationalen Dirigentenwettbewerb beim WMC in Kerkrade. Von 1995 bis 2001 war er Chefdirigent der Johan Willem Friso Militärkapelle in Assen. Seit 1996 ist er regelmäßig als Jurymitglied an internationalen Wettbewerben sowie als Dozent in Workshops tätig. Seit 1998 unterrichtet er Blasorchesterdirektion am Nordniederländischen Konservatorium, seit 2001 am Königlichen Konservatorium in Den Haag.
