Steirische Serie

In 1959, when the Styrian Government celebrated the 100th anniversary of the death of Archduke John, a son of emporer Leopold II., who was very successfull as the promotor of the social and economic situation in Styria in the first half of the 19th century, the Styrian Composers Union foundet the publication row „Music from Styria“ (editorial board: Artur Michl, Konrad Stekl and Wolfgang Suppan). Between 1959 and 1987 136 volumes with musical pieces by styrian composers where printed. Since 1974, when the publishing house Schulz in Freiburg im Breisgau cooperated with the Styrian Composers Union, most of the printed materials where devoted to chamber wind music.
The Styrian Band Association now continues this publication program with the special aim, to give composers and arrangers from Styria the chance, to become well known in the „international band community“. We are sure, that these compositions and arrangements will be successfull throughout Europe and also in other continents, especially in todays leading band country, in the United States of America. We are convinced, that our composers are able to enrich the international band development, - also in the field of instrumentation and orchestration, which is of great importance for the future of band literature
