Symphony No. 1 - New Day Rising, Movement No. 2 - Nocturne Steven Reineke

[EN] The second movement depicts the city on the evening of April 17th, 1906. The frenetic pace of the day has given way to a more peaceful, relaxed atmosphere. Once the city is lulled to sleep, we hear the distant sound of church bells tolling 5 a.m., the hour the Earthquake struck the city. This movement is segue attacca into the third movement.
[DE] Der zweite Satz zeigt die Stadt am Abend des 17. April 1906. Das rasante Tempo des Tages ist einer ruhigeren und entspannteren Atmosphäre gewichen. Sobald die Stadt eingeschlafen ist, hören wir das ferne Läuten von Kirchenglocken um 5 Uhr morgens, der Stunde, in der das Erdbeben die Stadt erschütterte. Diese Bewegung ist eine Überleitung von attacca in die dritte Bewegung.
