In 1925, Norwegian composer Johan Halvorsen composed music for 'Norwegian Fairy Tale Pictures', a children's comedy which he considered to be one of his best works. Later Halvorsen compiled a suite from this incidental music: 'Scenes from Norwegian Fairy Tales'. The music of this suite is colourful and vividly programmatic. The 'Dance of the little Trolls' is the final movement of the suite.
