Quintillusion! Benjamin Yeo

Quintillusion! is a symphonic fanfare for wind orchestra written for the Asian Bands Exchange Concert in Senzoku, Japan (2013). The world premiere was directed by a well-known Japanese composer-conductor, Maestro Ito Yasuhide. As the title suggests, the music uses a five-note motif derived from the acronym of the event: (A)sian (B)and (E)xchange (C)oncert in (SE)nzoku; with ES representing E-flat in German and Dutch. This five-note idea is heard throughout the music with varied timbral, melodic, harmonic and rhythmic interplay. This work is dedicated to the bands and conductors of the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and Senzoku Gakuen College of Music (Japan).

"Quintillusion!" est une fanfare symphonique pour orchestre à vent écrite pour le Asian Bands Exchange Concert à Senzoku, Japon (2013). La première mondiale a été mise en scène par un compositeur et chef d'orchestre japonais bien connu, le maestro Ito Yasuhide. Comme le titre peut le suggérer, la musique utilise un motif à cinq notes dérivé de l'acronyme de l'événement : (A)sian (B)and et (E)xchange (C) oncert in (SE)nzoku ; avec ES représentant le mi bémol en allemand et en néerlandais. Cette idée de cinq notes est entendue tout au long de la musique avec une interaction timbrale, mélodique, harmonique et rythmique variée. Cet ouvrage est dédié aux groupes et chefs d'orchestre de l'Université Technologique de Nanyang (Singapour) et du Senzoku Gakuen College of Music (Japon).

Zoals de titel al suggereert, gebruikt de muziek een motief van vijf noten, afgeleid van het acroniem van het evenement: (A)sian (B)en (E)xchange (C)oncert in (SE)nzoku; ES vertegenwoordigt Eb in het Duits en het Nederlands. Deze vijfnotengedachte is in de muziek terug te horen in een afwisselend timbre, melodisch, harmonisch en ritmisch samenspel. Dit werk is opgedragen aan de orkesten en dirigenten van de Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) en Senzoku Gakuen College of Music (Japan).
