An introspective, dark colored idyl, painting the impressions of twilight deepening into night in terms of the fully integrated wind colors of the modern orchestra. The constantly shifting tonalities with, at times, lack of any clearly defined tonal center, are meant to be the musical equivalent of the constantly changing hues and shades of the evening as the light fades in the Western sky. An occasional gleam of brilliant sunlight pierces in a quiet cadence in which all of the restless harmonic changes and shifting patterns finally resolve in a pure C major triad.
