Albéniz Isaac geb. in Camprodón, Provinz Gerona, Spanien, 29. Mai 1860, Cambô-les-Bains, Pyrenäen, 18. Mai 1909. Albéniz begann seine Laufbahn als Pianist, durch Franz Liszt entscheidend beeinflusst. Als Komponist steht er am Beginn eines spanischen Nationalstils, wobei er nicht allein die nachfolgenden Komponistengenerationen seines Heimatlandes sondern auch Claude Debussy und Maurice Ravel inspirierte.
