Haroldo Lobo composer

Haroldo Lobo ( 22 July 1910 - 20 July 1965 ) was a Brazilian composer.

He was born into a family of musicians, as his father played the flute and guitar and his brother was a composer and percussionist. His first studies were at the Escola da América Fabril, where he also studied theory and solfege.

His first job as a clerk was at the América Fabril fabric factory, after which he was a guard at the surveillance police, where he rose to the highest rank, surveillance officer. The author of several carnival successes, he was known by his friends as a clarinetist because he sang in a tone that only the clarinet could achieve.

His first recording was in 1934 with Aurora Miranda , "Metralhadora" (a partnership with Donga and Luís Meneses), music relevant to the constitutional revolution. Also in 1934, he composed the samba "De dawn" (with Vicente Paiva), also recorded by Aurora Miranda at the Odeon . The famous "Juro" won the prize from the Town Hall of the former Federal District in the 1938 Carnival. He prepared his marches a year in advance, taking inspiration from political facts and people's daily lives.

His last work was "Tristeza", written with Niltinho Tristeza and published by Ari Cordovil in 1965, which he never saw performed.

Haroldo Lobo died on 20 July 1965 at the age of 54.
