from the Movie: Karate Kid
Concert Band
Glory Of Love was composed in 1986 by Peter Cetera, Diane Nini and David Foster and became internationally famous as the title song of the film The Karate Kid Part II. The emotional pop ballad is characterized by a clear verse chorus structure that begins with an introductory passage and gradually builds to a powerful climax. In the concert band edition arranged by Marcel Saurer, the well known melody is first presented in warm woodwind colors before unfolding in full orchestral richness. The structure closely follows the original version, alternating calm lyrical sections with dynamically intensified tutti passages. Distinctive features include the memorable melodic line, the harmonic density of the chorus and a rhythmically defined accompaniment that gives the work its emotional brilliance. In terms of content, Glory Of Love expresses devotion, courage and unconditional love and conveys an atmosphere of confidence and inner strength.
