*Laufen, Schweiz, 29. April 1936. Joseph studierte 1958 bis 1960 am Konservatorium in Basel bei Albert E. Kaiser, 1966 bis 1969 am Konservatorium in Biel und 1967 bis 1970 bei Franz Königshofer in Solothurn. Seit 1968 leitete er Dirigentenkurse für Blasmusik und von 1974 bis 1991 gehörte er der Musikkommission des Solothurnischen Musikverbandes an. Zusammen mit Rudolf Wyss gab er eine Schrift über "Theoretische Grundausbildung für Blechbläser/Blasmusikdirigenten" heraus. Als Bearbeiter klassischer und romantischer Meisterwerke und Komponist zahlreicher erfolgreicher Märsche und Tänze, erhielt Joseph 1996 den Preis der Stephan Jäggi-Stiftung und 2006 den Kulturpreis des Kantons Basellandschaft.
