Brotons Salvador geb. in Barcelona, 17. Juli 1959. Er studierte Flöte, Komposition und Dirigieren in seiner Geburtsstadt. Über Frankreich und England kam er in die USA, wo er an der Florida State University in Thallahassee 1987 zum Dr. of Musical Arts promovierte. Anschließend arbeitete er bis 1997 an der Portland State University.
