Russ Martino composer / arranger

Russ Martino (b. 25 January 1932, Stamford, Conn.) is an American composer, music educator, arranger, conductor and pianist.

Martino studied at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, at the University of Hartford where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in music education in 1953. He also studied at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and obtained his Master of Music there in 1957. He also studied at the University of Nevada (UNLV) in Las Vegas.

From 1954 to 1956, he was an arranger and musician for the Fort Mason (San Francisco) Army Band. In Connecticut, New York and California he worked as a music teacher at public schools for around six years. He conducted the Stamford High School Stage Band at the Atlantic City Jazz Festival. Later he became second conductor and musician for entertainment music in Las Vegas, including the "Casino De Paris" at the "Dunes Hotel and Casino".

He owns the music store Rosario Music Co.

As a composer Martino has written works for orchestra, concert band, various jazz ensembles and vocal music. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
