Rafael Mullor Grau composer
He was born in Alcoi in 1962. He began his official studies at the Escuela Municipal de Bellas Artes de Alcoi in 1977, joining the school as a teacher the following year.
He later studied at the Higher Conservatories of Alicante, Valencia and the University of Alicante. He is qualified in Harmony, Counterpoint, Fugue, Composition and Instrumentation, Choir Conducting and Orchestra Conducting. He also holds degrees in Piano, Viola, Clarinet, Musical Language, Transposition and Accompaniment.
Some of his teachers have been: Amando Blanquer, Eduardo Cifre and Manuel Galduf. He has been a member of the Banda Unión Musical de Alcoi from 1970 to 1985, where he was clarinet soloist, and until 1991 as its director. He was a member of the Gran Banda Juvenil de la provincia de Alicante in 1975 and 1977. As a violist he was a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica Alcoyana, Orquesta de San Vicente, Orquesta de Cámara Ciudad de Elche, Orquesta de la Unión Musical de Llíria and the Orquesta del Conservatorio de Alicante.
As a conductor he began at the age of 16 in the Coral Polifónica Alcoyana, and later in the choirs of La Vilajoiosa, Vallada and Valencia. He has been the chief conductor of the bands Unión Musical de Gorga, Alcoi, Enguera and Rótova. As a guest conductor he has conducted 53 other bands such as, Lira Carcaixentina, Nova de Xàtiva, Orquestra de Vents Filharmonia, Altea, Muro, Xijona, Ontinyent, Bocairent, Municipal de Villena y de Elche, Elda, Primitiva y Nova de Alcoi, et al.
