Michael Boo was a published composer for solo and ensemble percussion and concert band, represented in the catalogs of TRN, Grand Mesa, Per-Mus, Studio 4, and LudwigMasters. His music has taken him to China nine years in a row, up through 2015. He was also commissioned to write the orchestral accompaniment for a choir concert of Chinese music honoring the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, for a special concert held at Chicagos Symphony Center. He performs percussion with the Windiana Professional Concert Band of Northwest Indiana and euphonium with the Valparaiso University/Community Concert Band. Michael is also the Staff Writer for Drum Corps International, penning articles for dci.org that run throughout the calendar year. His activities with DCI take him around the country during the competition season. He also writes and blogs for WGI Winter Guard, WGI Indoor Marching Percussion, and WGI Winds events, in addition to writing and blogging for Music for All/Bands of America. His three-decade presence writing for these activities has earned him the nickname, The Pen of Pageantry. Michael has specified Mike Balter mallets in many of his published compositions, stating, I want my music to sound as good as it can, and Mike Balter Mallets helps make that a reality."
