John Wesley Gibson composer

John Wesley Gibson, b. 1946, Dallas, Texas, lives in the Dallas area and is currently Senior Writer and Producer for Public Affairs and Integrated Marketing at SMU. He also serves as the Artist-in-Residence for the internationally-acclaimed Dallas Wind Symphony. He is recognized for his works for orchestra, band, chorus and percussion. Mr. Gibson taught band and orchestra in the Amarillo Public Schools, and taught composition at the University of North Texas, and the University of Arizona, where he founded the Arizona Contemporary Music Ensemble. He served as chair of music at McMurry University and as Assistant Dean at the Meadows School of the Arts at SMU. He holds degrees in composition, theory and musicology from Texas Tech and the University of North Texas. He is affiliated with the American Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers (ASCAP). Mr. Gibson is married to Dana Adams Gibson and they have two sons and three grandsons.
