Giovanni Podera arranger
Born in Bergamo in 1960, Giovanni Podera studied with Giorgio Oltremari (guitar) and Claudio Galante (composition) and attended numerous advanced courses. His encounters with György Ligeti, Angelo Gilardino, Vittorio Fellegara, Ruggero Chiesa, Pietro Luigi Capelli and Dusan Bogdanovic were decisive for his training.
Very active in the publishing field, he has published his compositions, musicological texts and transcriptions for the publishing houses Bèrben, Curci, Sinfonica and Ottocento. His works are also featured in various anthologies of contemporary music and are recorded and performed by artists from all over the world.
Considered one of the most renowned and reliable revisers, he has also published volumes dedicated to the leading guitarists of the past (Molitor, Matiegka, Sor, Giuliani, Carcassi, Carulli, Legnani, Sagreras, Tarrega, Terzi ...) in collaboration with Massimo Agostinelli, Angelo Gilardino and Giulio Tampalini, with whom he has recently created a series of monographic works, fingered and revised, published by Curci and entitled Maestri della chitarra (Masters of the Guitar), which is receiving widespread acclaim. He has also edited many texts on composition, piano, opera and teaching, and published articles and essays for leading specialist magazines.
