Dr. Fred William Teuber, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, is a native of Flint, Michigan. He began piano lessons at five, trumpet at eleven, and in high school took up the French horn, which became his principal instrument. Dr. Teuber graduated from Michigan State with a Bachelors in Music, from the New England Conservatory with a Masters in Music, and from the University of Iowa with a Ph.D. His academic credentials are in theory and counterpoint, but performing on horn led to his career in music. He spent a summer at Tanglewood, and two years with the Hdq 4th Army Band, San Antonio, then performed studio work in the Los Angeles area. He then played in the Colonial Theater in Boston, with The Harford and El Paso Symphonies, and with the Columbia Philharmonic.
