Franz Cibulka composer / arranger

Franz Cibulka, geboren am 23. Dezember 1946 in Fohnsdorf, Obersteiermark, studierte an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz Klarinette, Dirigieren und Komposition; Mag. art. Graz 1984. Er gehört dem Lehrkörper des Johann-Joseph-Fux-Konservatoriums in Graz an, wo er zusammen mit Armin Suppan erstmals in Österreich einen professionellen Blasorchesterstudiengang eingerichtet hat. Seit den Erfolgen bei der WASBE-Konferenz 1997 in Schladming zählt er, von dem Werke in allen Gattungen der Musik mit Ausnahme der Oper vorliegen, zu den erfolgreichsten Komponisten konzertanter postmoderner Blasorchesterwerke in Mitteleuropa. Einige dieser Werke wurden bereits in den USA und in Australien aufgeführt.

Franz Cibulka, born on dec. 23, 1946, in Fohnsdorf in the upper styrian region, studied clarinet, conducting and composition at the University of Music and Theatre Arts in Graz; MA 1984. He is a member of the teaching staff of the Johann-Joseph-Fux-State-Conservatory in Graz, the capital of Styria, where he developed together with Armin Suppan the first educational program for professional band conductors, composers and arrangers in Austria. He composed till now pieces for all kinds of music, especially the opera. Since the WASBE-1997-Conference in Schladming/Austria his band compositions are well known in the field of postmodern music in the middle european countries, but also in the USA and in Australia.
