Félix Alexandre Guilmant geboren in Boulogne-sur-Mer, 12. März 1837, †Meudon bei Paris, 29. März 1911. Als Organist und Chormeisterbereits in jungen Jahren erfolgreich, wandte er sich 1860 nach Brüssel, um sich dort unter der Anleitung Lemens weiterzubilden. 1871 erfolgte seine Berufung als Organist an die Cavaillé-Coll-Orgel von Sainte-Trinité in Paris. In die Musikgeschichte ginger als Komponist von großen Orchesterwerken ein, in denen der Orgelklang eine führende Rolle spielt.
