Ball Eric (Pseud. Walter John)geb. in Bristol, England, 31. Oktober 1903, Pool, Dorset, England, 1. Oktober 1989. Im kompositorischen Schaffen von Eric Ball, der seinen Aufstieg der Förderung E. Elgars verdankt, nehmen Blasmusikkompositionen einen großen Teil ein. Als Dirigent mehrerer Blasorchester sowie seit 1946 als Herausgeber der englischen Blasmusikzeitung The Champion Journal und seit 1951 der Wochenschrift The British Bands man zählte er zu den füh renden Blasmusikfachleuten Europas.
