Edward Bertin Nilsen (also written Edvard ; born 31 January 1935 , died 22 August 1989 ) in Bergen was a Norwegian trumpeter , composer , arranger, conductor and publisher.

As a young boy, Edward B. Nilsen was a member of the Salvation Army's orchestra in Bergen. Here he excelled as a virtuoso on cornet.

In 1958 he was employed as the 2nd trumpet player in the Music Company Harmonien (now Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra ).

In the early 1960s he went to England with his colleague Leif Slaatten (solo trumpet in the orchestra) and studied the trumpet with William Overton. William Overton was the solo trumpeter in the BBC Symphony Orchestra and he also had his background from the Salvation Army.

In 1971 he left Musikkselskapet Harmonien to become publishing manager for Tonika AS. He also continued his musical activities as a conductor, director, arranger and composer.

The first summer courses held by the Norwegian Music Corps Association were led by Edward B. Nilsen.
