David Reed (b. 1948) is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he was a percussionist in the symphony band and marching band, under conductor William Revelli.David Reed has been teaching orchestra in the Bloomfield Hills Schools, Michigan, since 1984. His ensembles have been invited to play at various conferences and have scored the highest ratings in their festival performances. Mr. Reed was named 2003 Orchestra Teacher of the Year by the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association and has been nominated for a number of other teaching awards: city, county and statewide. Mr. Reed has served the Michigan Chapter of the American String Teachers Association as President and is active as a clinician and adjudicator throughout Michigan and neighboring states. He has also lectured for music education classes at Michigan State University and the University of Michigan as well as having taught orchestral methods at Oakland University. He holds a music education degree from Michigan State University and a Master of Music degree in violin performance from the University of Michigan. He remains active as a performer as well as educator.
