Cynthia Carr

Cynthia Carr composer / arranger

Cynthia Carr had a 35-year career as a horn performer and teacher. She was Professor of Horn at the University of Delaware from 1991-2006, and also taught on the faculties of Lawrence University, Ball State University, and the Brevard Music Center. Ms. Carr was a member of many orchestras, including Opera Philadelphia, the Delaware Symphony, and the Ft. Lauderdale Philharmonic. She performed as a substitute and extra player with major orchestras such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, and Oslo Philharmonic.

Ms. Carr had a great love of chamber music performing throughout her career, including as a member of Trio Arundel, an oboe, horn and piano trio which commissioned several works and also championed many little-known works for that instrumental combination.

In 2012, Cynthia Carr transitioned out of her music career, earned a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and since 2014 has been an ESL teacher and the Assistant Director of the Program for Intensive English at IUPUI in Indianapolis, IN.
