Bjorn Mellemberg composer / arranger

Bjørn Anders Mellemberg ( Oslo , 13 November 1941 ) is a Norwegian composer , music educator , conductor , arranger , trumpeter and music publisher .
Mellemberg studied at the Musikkonservatoriet in Oslo . He also studied conducting with Siegfried Naumann at the Kungliga Musikhögskolan in Stockholm , trumpet with Knud Hovaldt in Copenhagen and composition with Bjørn Fongaard again in Oslo. After receiving his diplomas he became a trumpeter in the military Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorpsin Oslo, where he later also became chief conductor and remained in this position until 2000. He also became an arranger and composer for the Norwegian military bands. As an arranger he arranged many classical works for concert band such as Nordpolsmarsj op. 33, the Kong Haakon den VIIdes Honnørmarsch , Den Norske Løve and the Kronprins Olav Honnørmarsch by Oscar Borg , De to trompeter (The two trumpeters) (1951) by Hans Peter Nielsen (19071977), the Gud signe vårt dyre fedreland by Christoph Ernst Friedrich Weyse , the Yes, vi elsker by Rikard Nordraak , deYegersmarsj IR 18 by Leif G. Orvan , To Elegiske meloder (Two elegiac melodies) by Edvard Grieg and Tempeldans fra "Olav Trygvason" also by Edvard Grieg.
As a trumpeter he also played during performances by the orchestra and ensemble of the Oslo Nye Teater.
In addition to his activities as conductor of the Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps , he was also conductor of various amateur wind orchestras in and around Oslo, such as the Frimurernes Orkester , the Tretten Musikkforening , the Østre Gausdal Musikkforening and the brass band Bærum Brass with which he joined the orchestra in 1990. Norwegian Brass Band Championships has participated. He is also a much sought-after jury member at competitions in Norway, but also abroad. He is also working as a wind music consultant with several Norwegian music publishers.
He currently works as a teacher at the Norges Musikkhøgskole in Oslo. He is co-founder and owner of the music publishing house Bjørn & Martin Musikkforlag ANS in Oslo.
