With more than 500 printed works, Popp is probably one of the most hard-working flute composers of all times. However, only a few of his flute tutors are in use today, while his concertant music has for the major part fallen into oblivion. But times and the flute world's aesthetic tolerance are changing: while even recently any "serious" musician wrinkled his or her nose at hearing the expression "salon music", it seems that we are now experiencing a real renaissance of Popp's uvre. Zimmermann contributes to this Popp renaissance by re-publishing older editions already published in 1896 by Zimmermann Leipzig.

La llittérature pour flûte ne serait pas aussi ample s'il n'était pas pour des compositeurs aussi productifs que Wilhelm Popp qui enrichit le répertoire à son époque en composant plus de 500 uvres. Ses compositions appartiennent clairement au genre "joyeux". Un des éditeurs principaux de Popp contribue ainsi de manière effective à la renaissance que connaissent de nos jours les uvres de Popp.
