For a long time, Wolf Glaser, pianist, music pedagogue and composer, had not been known in Germany. Born in Cologne in 1913, he studied with Philipp Jarnach and Paul Hindemith among others, but no sooner had he been given a permanent post as second coach in 1933 than he had to flee the country due to his Jewish descent. First, he went to France, then to Denmark and Sweden where he still lives today and where he became a popular composer, conductor, music pedagogue, music therapist and poet. The common denominator of both works, edited here for the first time, is the experience of threat, escape and exile. On close examination, a highly concentrated and introverted kind of music can be discovered which requires both an excellent performer and an attentive audience. After the premiere of "Ricordo IV on February 2, 2001 played by Kolja Lessing, the composer wrote: "... like an echo from my inner world, which has been very sad for a long time, but also with an inner shine which reflects a whole world." "Canto" premiered on December 10, 2002, also performed by Kolja Lessing. With this edition, Robert Lienau publishers continue their effort concerning Werner Wolf Glaser's work. Published so far: Sonata I per pianoforte (ZRL 40780) and In Liedern nach Ungarn, England und... (To Hungary, England and .... with songs") for piano for four hands (ZRL 40490).

Le pianiste, pédagogue et compositeur Werner Wolf Glaser est resté presque inconnu en Allemagne pendant longtemps. Il est né en 1913 à Cologne et étudia la composition avec Philipp Jarnach et Paul Hindemith. En 1933 il dut quitter son poste comme répétiteur et fuir devant les nazis à cause de ses origines juives. Il gagna la France, puis le Danemark et s'installa ensuite en Suède où il vit toujours. Il y est connu du public en tant que compositeur, chef d'orchestre, pédagogue et poète. Les deux uvres éditées ici pour la première fois sont des témoignages émouvants et symboliques des expériences de l'exil et du sentiment d'abandon. Ceux qui cherchent à les comprendre y retrouvent une musique introvertie de haute concentration qui exige un bon musicien et un public attentif. Le compositeur écrivit après la création de "Ricordo IV" le 2 février 2001 par Kolja Lessing: "...c'est comme un écho provenant d'une partie intérieure très triste depuis longtemps, mais avec un nouvel éclat, lui aussi intérieur, reflétant tout un monde." "Canto" fut créé le 10 décembre 2002 à Stuttgart, également par Kolja Lessing. Avec cette publication, les Editions Robert Lienau continuent leur engagement pour l'ouvrage de Werner Wolf Glaser. Les uvres parues jusqu'á présent sont: "Sonata I per pianoforte" (ZRL 40780) et "Chansons d'Hongrie, d'Angleterre et et et ..." pour piano à quatre mains (ZRL 40490).
