Vincent van den Bijlaard wrote these transparent arrangements of seven Christmas songs that are extremely popular in the Netherlands and in Flanders. The arrangements are most appropriate to support and accompany community singing. 'Komt allen tesamen' is a French carol with lyrics in Latin dating from about 1745 and better known abroad under the title 'Adeste Fideles'. ''t Was nacht in Beth'lems dreven' (Night at Bethleem), 'Nu zijt wellekome' (You are welcome now) one of the oldest Middle Dutch carols from about 1600 -, 'O Kindeke klein' (O that little child) and 'De Herdertjes lagen bij nachte' (ca 1700) are old traditional Dutch carols. 'Ere zij God' (Glory to God) was first included in a Dutch church song book as late as 1933. The other foreign' carol is 'Silent Night, Holy Night' (1818), the immortal German Christmas song by Franz Xaver Gruber that conquered the whole world

Vincent van den Bijlaard a écrit ces arrangements limpides de sept cantiques de Noël très populaires aux Pays-Bas et en Flandre. Les arrangements se prêtent à merveille à l'accompagnement des chants en chur. « Adeste Fidelis » est un ancien chant français en Latin (vers 1745). Par contre, ''t Was nacht in Beth'lems dreven' (C'était la nuit à Bethleem), 'Nu zijt wellekome'- un des plus anciens chants en néerlandais moyen (vers 1600), 'O Kindeke klein' et 'De Herdertjes lagen bij nachte' (vers 1700) sont tous, sans exception des chants de Noël traditionnels en langue néerlandaise. C'est également le cas pour 'Ere zij God' (Dieu soit loué), un chant repris pour la première fois dans un recueil de chants religieux aux Pays-Bas en 1933. L'autre chanson de Noël d'origine étrangère est le cantique allemand « Douce Nuit, Sainte Nuit » (1818), chant immortel écrit par Franz Xaver Gruber et qui a conquis le monde entier

De arrangementen zijn bijzonder geschikt ook als begeleiding van de massazang. 'Komt allen tesamen' is een Frans kerstlied op Latijnse tekst uit ca 1745 en dat oorspronkelijk 'Adeste Fideles' heette. ''t Was nacht in Beth'lems dreven', 'Nu zijt wellekome' (ca 1600) één van de vroegste Middelnederlandse kertsleysen' eindigend op kyrie eleis), 'O Kindeke klein' en 'De Herdertjes lagen bij nachte' (ca 1700 tekst en melodie opgetekend door J.A. Alberdingk Thym) zijn uiteraard Nederlandse kerstklassiekers. Dit is ook het geval voor 'Ere zij God' dat pas in 1933 voor het eerst in een kerkelijke liedbundel in Nederland opgenomen en soms nog omstreden blijkt. Eén tweede buitenlands' kerstlied is 'Stille Nacht' (1818), het onsterfelijke Duitse kerstlied van Franz Xaver Gruber dat de hele wereld veroverde
