Almost all of Ursula Mamlok's works created before the Wind Quintet (1956) have remained unpublished until now. Many of them were performed for the first time in the final years of the composer who died in 2016. Mamlok himself played the accompaniment when (not only) her early piano works were released on CD by the label Bridge Records. They are now available in the present sheet music edition which contains three pieces from the days of her studies with George Szell, Roger Sessions and at the famous Black Mountain College (1942 and 1944) as well as three works with greater pianistic demands created after 1946. The collection also shows the composer's path from traditional forms towards her characteristic style and atonality.

Avant son Quintette à vents (1956), les uvres d'Ursula Mamlok étaient, sauf exception, très peu imprimées. Un grand nombre d'entre elles furent jouées au cours des dernières années de la compositrice, décédée en 2016. Mamlok a elle-même suivi la publication en CD chez Label Bridge Records de ses uvres de jeunesse pour piano (mais pas seulement), dont la partition est à présent éditée. Il s'agit de trois pièces issues de ses études auprès de George Szell et Roger Sessions au célèbre Black Mountain College (entre 1942 et 1944), ainsi que de trois uvres pour piano d'une grande exigence créées après 1946. Ce recueil montre également le cheminement de la compositrice, partie de formes traditionnelles pour aboutir à son style caractéristique et à l'atonalité.
