Blasenfest Tommy Fry

Written for the occasion of an Honor Band Concert at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference (1965), "Blasenfest" is a practical, contemporary-sounding work that can be qickly learned. There is a solo passage for cornet and some effective writing for the percussion section. It is a selection that will be suitable for a young band.

This new edition of Blasenfest returns a great favorite of school bands throughout the country to the catalog, with a complete Full Score for the first time. Built from a simple motive of fourths (FC, BbEb), Blasenfest is constructed with great skill and touches on a wide variety of moods and styles in a moderately contemporary vein during its brief span. Chorales, fanfares and a lively, rhythmically pointed allegro will give a Grade 3-4 band an excellent opportunity to demonstrate its proficiency. The brass and percussion writing, particularly effective and brilliant, will help ensure that this crowd pleaser will continue to excite players and audience alike.
