My fascination with the culture of the Navajo Native Americans and their healing ceremonies based on harmony and beauty motivated me to listen to ethnographic recordings of their songs, which are customarily accompanied by rattles and drums. A number of these songs inspired me to create two works for different instrumental ensembles for students at the Conservatoire de Versailles. Thierry Pécou's interest in ethnomusicology is reflected in this piece. He was inspired by the culture and especially by the traditional healing ceremonies of the Navajo Native Americans which are customarily accompanied by rattles and drums. Pécou composed his miniature version of this ceremonial event for the students of the Conservatoire de Versailles. The piece is also available as a version for flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, cello, and piano.

Ma fascination pour les indiens Navajos et leurs cérémonies traditionnelles de guérison fondées sur l'harmonie et la beauté m'a conduit à écouter beaucoup d'enregistrements ethnographiques de chants, généralement accompagnés d'un hochet ou d'un tambour.
