Don Quixote (Satiric March)

Don Quixote (Satiric March) Theodor Rupprecht / Arr. Simon Felder

Genre: Marche grotesque
For a long time, the composer Theodor Rupprecht (1873-1934) was considered Austrian in wind music circles. Why exactly, no one could really say. However, upon closer research, it turned out that the student of Royal Bavarian Court Kapellmeister Joseph Rheinberger (1839-1901) was actually a true native of Munich. He played cello at the State Theatre and became known as a composer of operettas, marches, and dances. His march Don Quixote remains one of Rupprecht's most recognized works today and offers a firework of satirical ideas something truly special among the marches of his time.
