A jewel, compositionally, simple technically, Lances has written a fantastic piece of music. This work along with two others was commissioned by the French government for the 'more minor' orchestras. The quotation marks here are intentional, for we feel that this piece is just as worthy of top orchestras.

Une merveille sur le plan de la composition, une exécution techniquement très simple: Lancen a réussi dans ce morceau la gageure de rendre d'accès facile des sonorités splendides. Avec deux autres compositions cette oeuvre a été réalisée à la demande du gouvernement français à l'intention des sections 'inférieures'. C'est à dessein que nous faisons usage de guillemets, car même des orchestres de premier ordre ne dédaigneront pas ce morceau.

Een juweeltje op compositorisch gebied, uiterst eenvoudig qua techniek, maar wat een prachtige klanken heeft Lancen hier neergezet. Dit werk werd met nog twee andere composities in opdracht van de Franse regering gecomponeerd voor de 'lagere' afdelingen. Met opzet plaatsen wij hier aanhalingstekens, want ook de toporkesten mag het geen schande zijn dit werk uit te voeren.
