This symphony, composed in 1961-1962, was orchestrated by Désiré Dondeyne and was chosen in 1964 as test piece for the highest division at the World Music Contest in Kerkrade, The Netherlands. It is a musical description of Lancen's trip to New-York. You can hear successively the arrival at Manhattan, a walk in the poetic world of Central Park, a visit of black' Harlem, a walk on the hectic Broadway Avenue and finally the admiration for the Rockefeller Building. Here is a splendid musical tribute to this unique metropolis.

Cette symphonie, écrite par Serge Lancen en 1961-1962, fut orchestrée par Désiré Dondeyne. En juillet 1964 elle fut imposée en plus haute division au Concours Mondial de Kerkrade aux Pays-Bas. Il s'agit d'une évocation musicale d'un voyage du compositeur à New York. Après l'arrivée à Manhattan, nous faisons une promenade dans Central Park, puis nous visitons le quartier noir' de Harlem avant de flâner sur Broadway. Finalement nous admirons l'imposant Rockefeller Building. Voici un splendide hommage musical à cette fabuleuse métropole

Deze symfonie, gecomponeerd in 1961-1962, werd door Désiré Dondeyne georkestreerd en werd in 1964 in de hoogste afdeling van het Wereld Muziek Concours in Kerkrade als verplicht werk opgelegd. Het is een muzikale beschrijving van een reis die Lancen maakte naar New-York, met achtereenvolgens de aankomst in Manhattan, een zondagswande-lingetje in het mooie Central Park, een bezoek aan de gekleurde wijk Harlem, een kijkje op de drukke Broadway Avenue en de uiteindelijke bewondering voor de Rockefeller Building. Een prachtige muzikale hulde aan deze unieke grootstad.
