Rainforest Concerto has been commissioned by the Brass Band Rijnmond. This double concerto for two trombones and wind band consists of three parts with the cadenza in the slow niddle movement. Saskia Apon was inspired by the threat of the destruction of the rainforest. In the first part, Creation, we hear an accelerated reproduction of the birth of this impressive natural phenomenon. We hear the first birds, we see the growth of the mangrove trees and we witness the struggle for light and the force necessary to keep the realized equilibrium in a perpetual balance.The second part, Ode, is a tribute to the wonder and splendour of the rainforest. By means of subtle and extremely delicate sonorities we hear how nature adds an inestimable value to the rainforest. However it is also extremely fragile and this engenders a certain melancholy due to the awareness of man's impotence to respect this beautiful nature.In the last part, Contra Demolition, we hear the threatening decline, but also the revolt against this possible ruin. It is a heartfelt cry to leave nuture in peace and to work hard for the preservation of the beauty and the value of the rainforest.

Rainforest Concerto est une commande du Brass Band Rijnmond. Ce double concerto pour deux trombones et orchestre à vents consiste en trois parties avec la cadence dans le partie lente centrale. Saskia Apron s'est inspirée de la menace de destruction de la forêt équatoriale.Dans la première partie, Création, nous entendons une reproduction accélérée de la naissance de ce phénomène naturel impressionnant. Nous entendons les premiers oiseaux, nous voyons la croissance de arbres mangroves en nous sommes témoins du combat pour la lumière et de la force nécessaire à garder l'équilibre acquis en balance perpétuelle.La deuxième partie, Ode, est un hommage au miracle et à la merveille de la forêt équatoriale. De facon subtile et extrêment délicate le compositeur a mis en musique la valeur inestimable que la nature a donnée à la forêt èquatoriale, mais également sa fragilité ce qui donne lieu à une certaine mélancolie née de la conscience que l'homme ne sera pas en état de respecter cette splendide partie de la nature.Dans la dernière partie, Contra Démolition, nous entendons la menace de la ruine, mais également la révolte contre ce déclin. C'est un véritable cri du coeur pour laisser la nature en paix et pour faire en sorte que la beauté et la valeur de la forêt équatoriale soient respectées

Rainforest Concerto is geschreven op verzoek van Brassband Rijnmond. Dit dubbelconcert voor twee trombones en band bestaat uit drie delen, met in het langzame middendeel de cadens. De componiste Saskia Apon liet zich bij het schrijven van dit stuk inspireren door het met ondergang bedreigde regenwoud.In het eerste deel, Creation, kunnen we een versnelde weergave van het ontstaan van dit imposante natuurverschijnsel beluisteren. We horen de eerste vogels, we zien mangrovebomen groeien en we beleven de strijd om het licht en de kracht die het kost om het evenwicht dat tot stand werd gebracht in een eeuwige balans te houden.Het tweede deel, Ode, is een eerbetoon aan het wonder en aan de pracht van het regenwoud. In subtiele en ragfijne lijnen wordt ten gehore gebracht hoe verfijnd de natuur een onschatbare waarde weet mee te geven aan het regenwoud. Maar ook hoe kwetsbaar het is en daarom hoort men in dit deel al de melancholie, voortkomend uit het besef dat de mens niet in staat zal zijn om van dit mooie stuk natuur af te blijven.In het laatste deel, Contra Demolition, horen we de dreigende ondergang, maar ook het verzet hiertegen. Het is als het ware een hartenkreet om de natuur met rust te laten en ervoor te zorgen dat het regenwoud in al zijn schoonheid en waarde zal blijven bestaan.
