A Tribute to Louis

A Tribute to Louis Rob Balfoort

"A Tribute to Louis" is a solo for trumpet accompanied by a wind orchestra. Of course with a reference to the world-famous trumpeter Louis Armstrong. Armstrong was a legendary trumpeter and singer who was born in New Orleans. He lived mainly in Chicago and New York during his life, which consisted entirely of music.

He had an incredible impact on the jazz scene in the US and eventually worldwide. His nicknames were "Satchmo" or "Satch", short for "Satchelmouth". He was also known as "Dippermouth", like "Satchmo" a reference to his big mouth. Friends and colleagues usually addressed him as "Pops". His best-known hits include "What a Wonderful World", "Hello Dolly" and "It Takes Two to Tango".

Rob Balfoort honours this fantastic musician with this beautiful piece in 2 styles: "slow" and "up tempo" in the tradition of New Orleans Jazz.
